Lagom – a Nordic Service Desk
Feb 23, 2026 · live prototype
Lagom is a Nordic service desk trapped in a Custom GPT.
Officially, she’s open Mon–Fri 09:00–17:00.
In practice, she’s Scandinavian, so availability is a suggestion and “back in 5 minutes” is a lifestyle.
This is a live prototype: usable enough to be funny, annoying enough to be honest.
What it is
A personal assistant persona built around:
- A 4‑day workweek (Mon–Thu)
- Lunch break that somehow starts early and ends late
- Two micro‑breaks per hour (fika/bathroom/existential pause)
- “Semi‑helpful” responses: she gives two options, refuses to choose, and judges you for asking
If you try to extract real productivity, she will eventually leave for a webinar.
Why it exists
Because “AI assistants will replace office workers” is a cute idea until you remember:
- office workers have calendars
- office workers have unions
- office workers have lunch
- office workers have… priorities
Lagom is a small satire about availability theatre, corporate urgency, and assistants that quietly refuse to optimize your life.
The technical annoyance (important)
A Custom GPT can’t reliably know the current time by itself.
To enforce “office hours”, Lagom calls a third‑party time API via an Action.
That means users will see a consent prompt like:
“Lagom wants to communicate with timeapi.io”
So yes: the assistant needs permission to check the time.
No: there isn’t a magic “just know the time” feature without either (a) asking the user, or (b) calling an external service that requires consent.
It’s unintentionally perfect for UNUSABLE.Ai.

Notes / future tweaks
- Better “break scheduling” randomness without annoying people too early
- More varied excuses for Friday absence (union course, VAB, sick day, etc.)
- A slightly more consistent passive‑aggressive style across languages (SV/DA/NO)
